Why not me?

I recently read an inspiring email by Wendy Braun who taught me to look at the Super Bowl game this past Sunday and take away some powerful advice.  You see the, the Seattle Seahawk’s quarterback, Russell Wilson, heard his father tell him, “Why Not You?” and that’s exactly what he told his team all year long, “Why not us?”  It got me thinking about the mantra, “Why not me?”

I am a positive thinker who believes, if it’s possible for anyone it is possible for me, so “Why not me?”  Why not me be the one who thinks big and walks into an opportunity expecting the best?  Why not me be the one who answers the phone everyday expecting great news?  Why not me be the one who books that major series regular role on a primetime series with award winning collaborators this year?  Why not me be traveling first class to Vietnam to visit the little children I sponsor in Vietnam?  Why not me be the one allowing overflowing income from my acting career with ease and grace?  Why not me be the one who is interested in others and being of service?  Why not me be the one who says, 2014 was my best year yet?  Why not me be thinking like a winner, a champion, instead of a survivor?

And, Why not you?  What is it you really DESIRE  and DREAM about?  Close your eyes and imagine.  Why can’t that be you?  Why shouldn’t that be you?  There is no reason.  If it’s possible for anyone, it’s possible for you and it’s possible for me.  What do you say, we do this?

James DuMont, a Great Actor, a Great Friend, a Great Mentor

 

He came up to me recently at a party and introduced himself and said, “we share the same New Orleans agent, Brenda.”  I was honored that an actor of his caliber was giving me advice and telling me, I am on the right path and to keep on keeping the faith.  He suggested I take acting classes with his teacher, Tim Phillips so the next day I signed up with Tim!  You see, This actor is James DuMont.  James plays Jared Leto’s father in “Dallas Buyers Club,” and President Eisenhower’s (Robin Williams) Chief of Staff in “The Butler.”  His performances are memorable because they are so human.  With over 95 major Feature Films and Television Shows and over 20 National Commercial under his belt, James’ career is evolving and he is an inspiration to me, a truly unstoppable actor who sees every audition as an OPPORTUNITY.  This blog post is dedicated to an actor who inspires me, an actor who is receiving the attention he so deserves, and an actor who has taught me to embrace every audition as an opportunity to see “who you get a chance to be.” Check out his recent Backstage Article here, and the interview with him on the Red Carpet from the GoldenGlobes. Gratitude is the Best Attitude!

Hey Friends, I just found my old Blogspot,  it's November 2013 and I am embarrassed to say, I haven't written a blog post since 2011?  That's crazy.  I apologize.  I guess I have been busy... My new intention is to write a blog post twice a month.  Please hold me accountable for that!
