The Number 1 Question to Ask Yourself

I just got off the phone with a coach named Chris Atley, who reminded me the number 1 Question to ask myself this year...

Want to know what it is?

The question to ask yourself is “If I could do Anything this year, what would that look like?”

I read my goals every night before I fall asleep and they are more than just goals, they are little visions that fill up about 5 pages worth of writing, filled with colors, sounds and tastes so when I read them out loud to myself I feel myself in the place of receiving them already happening.  After all, the universe does not know the difference.  I have been reading them every night before bed since January 1, 2015 and already amazing benefits have come forth this year.  But I recently received a little quiet voice say to me, “What if these goals are not BIG ENOUGH.  My goals are about my acting career and there are many goals related to Guest Star and Recurring roles on TV shows but not one goal is about a Series Regular role.  I went out for a series regular on a pilot yesterday and it got me thinking.  Am I limiting myself by not dreaming big enough?  If I could do anything this year, without worrying about the HOW, it would be to book that series regular role and be working 5 days a week on set.  Woohooo!  Just writing that even feels good.  So, my recommendation for you this week is to ask yourself the question, IF I COULD DO ANYTHING THIS YEAR, WHAT WOULD THAT LOOK LIKE?  What would I LOVE?

Have fun creating that vision for yourself  and then read it every night before bed…let me know what happens in 30 days….(I got a good feeling for you)

The Power of 2 Words....THANK YOU!

As an actress, sending thank you cards is one of my favorite ways to reach out.  Thank you Tweets, FaceBook messages, emails and hand written cards to Casting Directors, Agents, Managers, Directors, Producers....  I have done it all and here is my favorite thank you story.

I was on set as an actress in a movie shooting in Seattle and I remember after a long day of filming I was riding an elevator with one of the producers and he smiled at me and said, "you know what got you this part Christina?"  I was surprised to hear this and said, "My talents?" He laughed and said yes that too but do you know what separated you from all the rest of the actresses?"  "Tell me" I said.  He said, after your audition and callback you wrote a handwritten thank you card to me and the director that was so thoughtful and generous and I thought, "That's a girl I want to have on my set."  He said, it was between you and one other actress for this role and your thank you card sealed the deal for me on you.  WOW.  I had a tear in my eye as he said this and thought.  I will always send thank you cards no matter what.  That meant so much to me.  For all the times, I sent a thank you card and never got acknowledged this made up for it and made me realize the power of a thank you card.

Send a thank you card to anyone this week and watch how good it feels!

Happy Thanksgiving!

The Power of Saying NO!

An an actress, it's not every day an offer comes along (although I pray and hold the space for that to happen) so when an offer does come along, it might sound crazy to say "NO" right?

Well, here's the thing (my little secret)

When an opportunity for a casting or an offer for a role in a project flows to me, I have to feel Grateful for the opportunity but then ask myself:

1.  Is this in alignment with my target goals?

2.  Will this role be a career building role for me?  (Will I be working with collaborators who inspire me? Will this look really great on my resume?  Will this be a step up from the roles I have done before?)

3.  How will this role make me feel?

One of my favorite mentors, Dallas Travers taught me, "If it's not a Hell YES, it's a Hell NO"

Sometimes it really just does not feel right in my gut and I have to trust that.  At the end of the day, you know best!  Trust yourself.

Living Mantra :  (repeat after me)  I trust myself to be myself and to make the best decisions for my highest good and the good of all concerned.

Have fun making decisions!!

I Believe in Miracles!

I Believe in Miracles and I can tell you why!

I went through a little time this year were I felt down, attached to what was NOT Happening in my career, measuring myself by the amount of TV shows and Feature film credits on my resume and feeling disappointed, frustrated and sad around how hard I felt I HAD to work.  Well, that "Stuck" place was not serving me and I know when I appreciate what it, what I want shows up even faster so I knew who to call on ASAP.

A Miracle Worker.  A true angel, a prayer warrior, a peacemaker, who specializes in tapping (EFT) out those yucky unconscious beliefs that never serve and are not mine to believe EFT and someone who can lead me through a hypnosis session that feels as good as a full nights sleep.  Someone who gets it, has been through it and is ALWAYS working on improving herself and knows just what to say to get me to see the light.

This Miracle Worker is Jaime Kalman of Inspired Healing and Awareness.

I have been calling on Jaime's healing services for a few years now and as an actress in a pretty crazy business and as a spiritual being who constantly wants to improve, I will call on her again and again.  I will share, (for those who want to hear the quick fix).....I did see miracles after just one session.  Wow.  The amount of love, light, laughter increased in my life, the amount of people (angels) who showed up to help me increased, my heart opened to unexpected good, my awareness of gratitude expanded (and I thought I was already grateful enough, lol) and I BOOKED an acting role on a new TV series.

Here's to miracles happening for YOU because if it is possible for me, it is possible for you.
I pinky promise!

There is no Love like the Love from a Mom!

This Throwback Thursday, I am posting a picture of my Mom and I, celebrating life at one of our favorite beaches together.  I think I was in my junior year of High School at this time.  There is no love like a mom's love.  One of my favorite traits in my mom is how she treats FUN as important as FOOD.  She knows how to throw a party and be the life of the party and she has taught me to do the same.

The Emmy's are Coming, The Emmy's are Coming...

As some of you know, I am a happy active member of the TV Academy, and as a voting member of the TV Academy, I take my duty seriously.  So, for the past few months, I kept receiving all these wonderful gifts from Showtime, HBO, History Channel, ABC, NBC, FX, etc.  Every day when the door bells rings, it was like Santa Claus was at the door.  When I opened the door, there he was, the mailman, handing me another brown box and I would open it like a kid on Christmas Day and behold inside, there would be this Colorful box with screeners of many many shows.  And, I would allocate as much time as possible between auditions, coachings, consulting, and classes to watch all of them and some were not just two or three episodes, some were entire seasons.  I just would watch Entire seasons like Mr. Selfridge, starring Jeremy Piven who I met on Entourage and in Mr. Selfridge, he was truly a Mr. a Gentlemen, showing acting skills and then when the Netflix Box came, Orange is the New Black.  I had no idea how good the show was and the day that I put that DVD into my player, ready to watch oh, maybe 2 episodes, I found myself 13 hours later, wanting to subscribe to Netflix, so I can watch the next season, wow, what a show.  Truly a leading edge, majestically written and performed new golden age TV show.  And then, after all my hard work I had the joy of proudly casting my vote for all these shows.  Thank you TV Academy.

Thank you TV Academy for giving me the opportunity to cast my vote on many new shows, it was an honor and a privilege. I look forward to the 25th!
